Subject: RE: Stubborn Heifer Nursing Calf

North Central OH
Just let a pair out, first calf heifer been penned up a week and a half. Cow had been wearing a halter in case she needed tied up, which was required several days to get her to hold still. Calf seem persistent enough that I hope it will be alright, she wont be staying around never cleaned the calf off, another first calf heifer did it for her.

On the other hand had another cow that we had to pull the calf off a day to warm and recoup, they were in a small pen 3 days and couldn't get her to claim the calf at all. Put her in the shoot two days in a row and let the calf drink, still no go on their own. Cow has a bad bag and bad attitude so thew them in the fat pen with other heifers and are bottle feeding the calf, still no luck with the mother.
