Driftless SW Wisconsin | I was entering new calves into my Cattlemax program and went to Google AI and asked what is the international cattle year letter for 2025? Here's what it came back with:
"The international letter for cattle year 2025 is "W". This letter is used to designate the year of birth for calf registrations, often used in conjunction with numbers to create unique identifiers"
WRONG!
I use the cow tag # plus the letter year (for example 150N) in the computer until the new calf gets its own ear tag at first workup in a month or two.
"W" didn't seem right so I dug into last year's history and found I used M last year.
So this year is actually N, not W.
Moral of the story is to be very careful accepting anything from "AI" as true. Check things out.
