I would suspect 98% of the UFO evidence YOU have heard of occurs in the US. To be sure the percentage of UFO sightings and encounters in the US is commensurate with the population of the US compared to the world population or around 5 to 10%.
I believe much more is known by govt and industry than has been let on. Imagine 60 years ago Walter Cronkite and David Brinkley reporting on the national news that we are being visited by beings of some kind from where we are not sure. We dont know why they are here or what they want or if they want anything, but we do know they can outshoot anything we have and outfly anything we have. Now, go out and buy long term bonds and real estate. See the problem.
One of the most useful classes I took in college was finite math, which was heavy with statistics and probability. Gave me a whole new way to look at how the world and universe works. Imagine the probability that among the millions of planets in the universe ours is the only one suitable for life to flourish. Furthermore, imagine in a universe billions of years old a civilization that got its start maybe 100,000 years ahead of us. In cosmic time 100,000 years is the blink if an eye. 500 years ago wind and horses were the methods of transportation. A little more than 500 years later we are on the moon. A lot of progress in 500 years. Imagine 100,000.
As for how the secret has been kept it is easy. It hasn't been kept. To the contrary, there have been many credible witnesses come forth. Pilots, police, soldiers, govt officials, congressional hearings, and on and on. And many haven't come forth for fear of being labelled kooks. However the drip, drip, drip that has come out over the last 60 years has slowly conditioned people to the point I really don't believe an announcement of visitation would be met with much fear or uproar.
We will have to wait and see.
