Floyd County, Iowa | I would not get one with less than 1/2 hp, and screw drive only. The 1/3 hp are cheaper, but the 1/2 hp last longer.
Contrary to popular belief, the hp doesn't make any difference on the lifting ability. The heavier motors last longer/more cycles in lifetime.
The doors should be adjusted so they open AND close EASILY by hand before the opener is even hooked up.
If you had to help it up, it's out of adjustment. Springs are either getting weak or are needing adjusted. Hardware could be getting worn and sloppy, or track not adjusted properly. Torsion springs may need lubed (for this, just use WD40 and spray a LITTLE on the springs to eliminate drag from rust causing friction). | |
