People forget, boats / planes / trains / trucks just don’t all bring items into USA and dead head back home empty.
Ignoring trade agreements while still fully in effect will obviously rattle trade partners and have an equal and opposing effect.
My failed to land joking reply to someone’s seed co changing terms of agreement midway through the term went over some heads a few weeks ago.
This is similar to that.
If one doesn’t like the terms of a contract. It evolves, GATT, NAFTA, USMCA .
Pouting part way through and not honouring the terms is unacceptable in any other venue .
Be that land rent deal. Contract for your corn , beans , wheat etc.
Yet.
It’s somehow acceptable when spun by spin doctors in DC and Media.
Years from now , economists will study this 2025 ERA as Trump being the greatest president resurrecting USA manufacturing,
Or
The president who shot the feet off the greatest economy in the world.
Time will tell.
