Northeast Indiana | This is my thinking as well. I don't know how many times we've blown a simple hose after hours or on the weekend, and we can't get a new one until the next day or the following Monday. Also there are the times where I send my wife in to get a specific hose made, and it comes back too short to work, then we're down for a few hours making a second trip to get the correct length hose. I've also ran to get a hose made and they are out of the common fitting during the busy season. Then we're stuck running around trying to find somewhere else, or waiting till the dealer gets fittings in. With the increase in parts prices, getting hoses made has gone up substantially. A hose that might cost me $100 to make, the dealer will charge over $300. While we don't go through a great deal of hoses, the uptime and savings over time by doing a lot of it ourselves, would improve our efficiency. I got a quote late yesterday from Discount Hydraulic Hose to get me started. Its going to be a little more costly than I would like, but I'm looking forward to adding another ability for our farm to do itself, instead of relying on somewhere else. | |
