Galahad, Alberta | Buy a couple tire irons with round tails so you don’t pinch tubes( if you use them). Don’t just try to use big, flat screwdrivers. Use grease or tire goop for a lubricant when putting a new tire on the rim. Use a vice grip to hold the tire from slipping out of the drop center while you work away with the tire irons. The new tires are usually squashed flat from shipping. We would cut four 4” chunks of 2x4 and put them in the unmounted tire for a couple of weeks to spread the beads apart. Makes inflation much easier if you don’t use tubes. Use a wire brush or wheel to really clean the rim good when mounting the tire on a used rim.
