Ware, IL (seepwater central)
Our soil types map look like a paint by numbers page for advanced painters! No way a flat rate does much good for us. We have been doing the 2.5 vrt for probably 30 years and I firmly believe we are yield and money ahead. On a typical field we might have spots of 3 tons of lime with areas of none. Same goes for P & K. Sometimes if we are wanting to up the levels we tell the company that does our maps and they will customize the minimums to what we want. We have our own spreader so it is easy to fine tune even the smallest of fields. Just don't expect to even up the readings of a field. There are too many variables to ever get one perfect. We have gotten some of our ph's within .5 difference fieldwide though
