Thumb of Michigan | Perhaps dig a trench out into the water at whatever depth you need to stay below freezing ground. This way your pump can be submersed but easily accessible. This how we did it at the manufacturing plant I worked at for our fire protection system (heated building even for the 250HP diesel, smaller electric would come on first if electric was still working). I don't remember how we 'filtered' the water, however. We did have the pumps lower than the intake pipe (think of a T turned on its side, if that makes sense). | |
