Subject: RE: Machinery Operating Costs

Central Kansas
Silage bagger that takes silage from trucks. Mine is a pto model, they don't make them anymore... go figure. Ag-Bag G7000.

If I remember right, I bought it about 15 years ago, well used, for over $60,000. I have about 150 cow dairy, and put up about 1500 ton per year. I've put on new apron belt, $6500, used Gearbox, $19,000, new rotor and strippers, $12,000, and now planning to replace gearbox with new replacement which will take major rebuilding again by shortening rotor, making new mounting of gearbox, etc., for somewhere around $35,000.

All the repairs I have done all the labor, and the new rotor rebuild was welding all fingers and caps on in the machine so hours and hours of labor. Costs mentioned are approximate and only parts.
