SE Washington | You are definitely on the right track I'm not sure how good you're going to get it. If you are not using a random orbit DA (dual action) machine with a 100% wool pad you really ought to be. Nothing wrong with a regular buffer but you have to be careful about getting to deep into the paint. Harbor freight has a good affordable machine, wool pads are cheap on amazon. I used a DA machine, wool pad, and the Meguires one step on a heavily oxidized fiberglass camper, it's amazing that what it was able to do. Wool is significantly more aggressive at taking oxidation off than foam pads. Use the foam for final polish.
