Subject: RE: Corn genetics

South Central MN
I know Becks get corn genetics from a bunch of sources, same for beans.

Some Becks numbers are also Pioneer breeding results that did really well in certain regions/conditions, however Pioneer did not add them to the lineup since they did not perform on a wide range of acres like they expected them to. They will do well for grower X who is farming soil type Y but not for farmer Joe who has a whole range of soil types/conditions scattered across a whole state. Probably why Becks also requires more training for dealers selling the seed so they know more about where to place those hybrids.

The Corteva corn seems to be doing better than I thought it would, I know my dad would have ran from any prospect of planting any corn that came from the Pioneer breeding program many years ago. (Used to be a seed corn grower for DeKalb.) Now I might have 25-50% of my corn acres planted to a Corteva traited corn and it does as good as anything else I put in.
