Butler is still trying to sell Claas. The Fendt Ideal has been a failure. And Gleaner isn't ever going to expand market share.
Claas is a mainline dealer everywhere else in the world but here.
Everyone complains there's no competition in farm machinery until a company wants to compete, then they get badmouthed.
I think the real difficulty lies on being 2nd fiddle to whatever flagship brand the dealer has. Especially if they push to have no competing brands of like equipment. It's hard to grow when dealers are chosing case or fendt over you. With stand alone stores, the techs, salesman and staff are dedicated to claas (in theory) and not another brand. |
