| It sounds a lot like your feeder house is back feeding. Like the rock trap or rotor isn't taking it away fast enough and the feeder house chain is taking it back to the head.
Check your rock trap bars (if you have one), your elephant ears/Kile flights or whatever you have on the front of your rotor and the vanes in the transition cone.
The problem you are having is not an unsolvable problem that plagues IH/CIH corn heads. If anything, its far more common on green corn heads. The auger in 40/90 series JD corn heads heads runs way too fast and is well known to throw ears out of the front of the head. Our 1290 has had the sprockets changed to slow the auger down to about 2/3 of its original speed.
