Everyone likes to bad mouth a Ram 68RFE but if you keep the power-adders to a minimum they are a good transmission. I had mine tuned when the emissions stuff fell off and that really made it a great transmission. Wouldn't bother me one bit if it exploded tomorrow, it served its time well, and I haven't been the nicest to it.

Like mentioned above, GM and Ford have been sharing transmissions for awhile now, so that may only leave you one choice. I personally don't like to be the guinea pig on the first year of a new drivetrain so I'd probably get a 2024 Ram if you decide to go that route.

Gas isn't terrible if you don't tow a lot. Then again, I wouldn't want to be without the torque the diesel provides. Kind of like a 4x4 combine, once you have one you won't go without
