There are several kits/solutions offered by Deere for mulching...

#1 listed below is the part# kit you referenced...

#2 listed below is the cheap man's way...Gator Blades, and a simple shut off for discharge chute.

I have the X350r, and have always used Gator Blades, by John Deere (cheaper than aftermarket in most cases)...they last and hold an edge really good after sharpening.

I tried the chute close off cap, but I don't like, probably because I let my grass get a bit too tall...*(imagine that)...

And, I have the Accudepth deck...much taller...allows material to flow like crazy.

So, I can't comment on that entire kit with baffles...probably ok as long as grass not too tall...

But I have moved on...now have a real mower...the R series 2032.

Now that is a grass eating machine...
