| We're making money on the cattle we are buying. Takes patience but you can find cattle that work. Really easy to find cattle that don't pencil also.
We have a third party that helps us do our marketing and business management. They know our flows and can help us hedge cattle we might not even own yet if the board price is at what seems like highs. I never get worried about buying cattle to fill those hedges at some point in the year I will be able to buy cattle that work at the number we hedge at. They might 400lbs or they might be 1100lbs but I will find it
Luckily this works well with the amount of cattle we have (few thousand) and not tens of thousands. More cattle would make my business plan harder to manage | |
