As Chris said, if parts aren't being bought and shown that theres a demand for them then the companies will discontinue them. Probably is they do it before the machines really need the parts. We went from making stuff that lasted to if the whole tractor is 2 years old it needs to go to the scrap yard because its already outdated. It seems that way atleast.

The 8000 series Allis are a great example, modern enough to actually meet todays standards but simple enough to just plain work. A lot are still doing tons of work on family farms. Sensors and just simple parts that are needed have been discontinued long ago because low demand but are needed now because they finally went bad.

Ill 7100 series Case IH in same category. Don't know parts are for those but they are sought after and have lots of life left. Same way with 7000 and 7010 series deeres. I know new tractors need to be sold, but i dont see why in a down Ag economy thay these companies go and make some of the discontinued parts that are in demand to sell. Be a win for them, a win for the dealer, and a win for the customer. It help prevent layoffs, i know a lots out sourced but might even help in that sector too.
