Subject: RE: ? For no til soybean growers

Mid-Michigan
Personally i hate a disc (any disc). I won't use it in the spring. I'm not real fond of my chisel plow either (at least that what we call them here, i got yelled at and was told it's a ripper by guys on here). Anyway, my chisel plow takes forever, burns fuel like crazy, burns up $40 points like butter and is rougher than he'll in the spring. I'm trying to save a little money where I can without sacrificing yield. But what I really want is time. I have limited help and limited tractors. I always have around 200 acres of cover crop that I can no til into (cover crop after wheat). I'd like to be planting while hopefully someone is spreading fertilizer and getting corn ground ready. Like everyone, my ground all gets ready at the same time. I'm really anal about doing anything wet in the spring. But, when it's ready, it's ready. I only have one planting tractor. I can't plant soybeans and corn at the same time (usually don't have a competent person to do either those jobs anyway). So my thought was this discing idea. If it doesn't work then it doesn't work and I'll scratch it with the field cultivator and packer like I always do. I appreciate the responses.
