I've been on parts of those routes. I won't speak to the weather, but I-80 thru Nebraska and Wyoming is nothing but truck traffic. I-90 is more interesting, visually, imo.
Have you been to Des Moines? It's a clean, beautiful city with very few homeless. Norman Borlaug's work is honored there at the World Food Prize Building. Open on Tuesdays.
