Subject: RE: Corn Drought Tolerance Compared To Milo Question

Hoisington, KS
Have never tried corn here, but lot of neighbors keep trying it but has all been chopped or baled the last two years and we have harvested most of our milo acres. We are going on 4 years of drought and well below average 24" precipitation though. I've always heard that our night time temperatures are too warm to make corn work here. I had been planting soybeans here since 2007 all no-till, but gave up on them this year after 3 failed crops and resulting failed wheat crops following them. I don't farm for an insurance check and that's what planting corn is for here, because there is zero subsoil moisture and milo may not make it this year either.
