I am not quite sure, but it might be called Japanese Clover, or bicolor which is considered an invasive species in many states. You probably aren't going to find much for seed. As you say, it blocks out native plants. Similar to Kudzu, someone thought it was a great idea to import it and plant it all over the place back in like the 1800s. Then found out they really couldn't control it.

There are a couple of native species of lespedeza.
