What are your thoughts on irrigation, I have 100ac that i have water to irrigate. I can get into a Rain reel for less than 20k. It is located in 3 different locations, I know it will never pay for itself in one year. But it just might salvage some of a burnt up crop this year. Now what are your thoughts good investment bad idea? I know it's a reel and takes a lot of work moving, but i have no other options it all rented ground. Worth it or not? Thanks

Go for it. If you already have the water that's the hardest part. Big guns/reels are very easy to setup and versatile for crop height, certainly not a pivot but you could be pumping water very quickly if starting with nothing. We were watering corn in the drought of 2012 with two traveling guns and made 200 bu/a on watered ground compared to the 110 bu/a where we didn't water. Water is very expensive in my part of Illinois so we don't do it unless its absolutely necessary. Your area seems pretty desperate for water.
