Subject: RE: Split applied N

Black Hawk County, IA
Crop scout was here Tuesday. Asked him how’s thing look. They are Pioneer dealers as well. Showed me some soil/tissue sample results from other customers. One had 140# NH3 fall applied, showed needing 150#s to be applied. Another had 150# spring applied with manure, it showed needing 80-110 #s of N. I put 1/3 of my N on with planter, corn is dark green and looking great. My results should be available tomorrow. Will decide how much is needed to go on with my Y-drops based on samples results and yield prospects. My corn goals are 300 bpa. Last year I was less than 15 bu short of that, on 135 lbs total N. That’s why I split apply.
