AC-D12 III - 6/23/2024 07:19 My brother in-law lives way across town across from Kooiman Manufacturing; his house is ok; thank the Lord for his sake. Ower of Hi-way Chevrolet is owned by a cousin; actually I bought a car from him Monday and took it home Wednesday. I am glad it is in my garage rather then on his lot. Faith Reformed on those hills to the south was the first church to offer shelter. The CRC the RCA and the Netherlands Ref. received damage but the new United Ref. located on a very low lot next to the river was nearly covered. I often wonder why homesteaders planted towns next to a river. They needed a reliable place to dig wells, used itfor transportation and a stable location on a map. Difficult to relocate a town !!!

Chelsea IA was moved or at least partially moved after a few too many big floods from the Iowa River
