Voles eat plants. If you have voles, maybe changing the cover to something they may not like to eat. They tend to like grasses.

If it is a mole problem, then beneficial nematodes may help cut down the grub population they feed on. (only mentioning this because some people use the terms interchangeably.)



I think the "mix of different species of CC seed" is a cute way of saying we don't know
We plant some type of grass (annual rye grass-barley-wheat) that the seed costs no more than $6

I think our poorer soil types are getting much better BUT have no way to prove it



In part, it is saying we don't know. In part, some covers work better in different parts of the field, in part they are usually targetted for different things like biomass and nitrogen as you need nitrogen to break down the biomass, etc, and it adds diversity for the microbiology.

Probably the best way to tell if it is working is measuring organic matter, and seeing if it is increasing. If it decreases the need for chemical inputs, and making it cheaper, you are winning or you are winning if it isn't going backwards. :)
