Ever think about using Peas?
We tried Australian Winter Peas (AWP) probably 25 years back "NRCS was promoting it"
good was
put out lots of roots --breaking a crop cycle before Corn
Down sides
Seed was expensive, wasn't that good with slowing erosion
We decided that growing nitrogen was not that effective-
-we were killing the cc too soon, never know when the small amount of N produced would be available
(cheaper to buy commercial N) side dress it when we needed it
from a not very good memory -only one or two trials, over 2 years on only couple hundred acres
-Hope some one else chimes in if they like AWP could be a great idea

Add if the CC seed costs over $6 an acre I begin to question it --I think we were in the $25 an acre range for AWP
