Amherst WI
The cover crop speakers on the circuit seem to forget to mention this one key detail. If you are a bad manager now, covers and no-till make it even worse.

I think overall they do help and NT is a huge time savings, how ever they come with their own set of new challenges compared to full tillage. Even though this spring didn't go great in this department compared to the washouts and ponding in the heavy tillage/no cover crowd I guess I'm happy to be in this camp.

Cover crop termination seems to be the biggest unknown since each year it changes when that should be and getting that wrong is what I would say is the limiting factor. That and not dealing with sins left behind in the tillage days. Don't have a plow pan 6" deep and think 1lb of radishes is going to cure everything that ails it.
