E.Central MN | Sometimes it's not the amount of rainfall that causes the problems, it's how much comes down in a short period of time. One year we had a heavy rain over a short 2 hour period. Normally the amount of rainfall we got wouldn't have caused much of a problem, but the road drainage systems around here had damage occur. Culverts couldn't handle that much water in that short a period of time so it washed over the roads and caused major erosion in fields. The rains we're getting now aren't quite as heavy, but it keeps coming day after day. The low lying farm fields are going to have drown out spots and the rivers can't handle it without flooding problems that usually is over with by this time of year. | |
