I don’t think he’s worried about the bugs, the flowers are the reproductive organs, he’s worried if he burns them off no beans will come from those parts of the plant. I’m also concerned about flowering and spraying but my dad has always sprayed late and his beans are just as good as mine that we’re sprayed earlier. I’d like to have a few check strips but it never seems to work out with timing of spaying.
