When you consider what the soil can give you, I consider 180 lbs to be quite a bit of N for 180 bushel corn. If you are struggling to build the base saturation you either have a high cec soil or you don’t have the room to hold the potassium due to too much ca and mg. I don’t think it would be a waste to foliar apply what you mentioned and do some y-drop of kts and boron. I would probably do the foliar feed around v10 and add a fungicide with it such as veltyma. I would try this on some acres and see how it works out. I’m wanting to do this same app and use it to replace my tassel time fungicide. Rumor is tar spot has shown up already and being proactive is better than reactive. I would throw some zinc in the foliar feed as well. Build those big leaves and increase your sugar production.
