Subject: Skip rows/ Tram lines

Michigan
Interested in tram / skip rows and hoping to gather some information from experience. . Currently running 60’ planter 120’ sprayer, 20” rows. 72 rows per sprayer pass, looking to turn off rows 15&22 every other pass to have a 40” tram line to spray down. Guys that have a true skip row/tram have you had better success planting 150% on the 2 rows each side of the missing row? Or subtly bumping up the other rows? 2 rows missing out of 72 equates to 2.8% missing population. We are growing corn sugarbeets drybeans. I could see going 150% in corn with our average pops in the low 30’s. But beets average low to mid 60’s and beans 110-115k. Not sure how going 150% would work in the higher pop crops? Have guys noticed corn and bean yields stay flat or go up or down with the missing rows? Currently spraying with 320 tires and I have varying yield reduction on 4 rows, depending on how wet it is when we spray and how accurate the bean rolling tractor drives. Want to spray year around with some 520’s to 650’s. Larger tires would also help cut back on a little tillage needed to fill in some sprayer ruts. Would appreciate any and all information you guys might have. Thanks
