Subject: RE: Central Air Question

In an old farmhouse like that I would say having it set at 74 is asking a lot out of the unit. Especially if the humidity is high. I recommend a couple of dehumidifiers in the house. This can help a struggling AC unit quite a bit. In a situation like yours, lowering the temp much over 15 degrees from the outside temp could be a struggle. We have ours set at 77 during the day and it feels very cool when outside temp is mid 90’s.
