I'm in southeast Nebraska. Wheat will be harvested around the Fourth of July. The field was terraced two years ago and after a year of beans we decided to sow wheat and then a cover to help build the soil.
I suppose we will need to spray the weeds when they start thriving after the wheat is cut. When is too early to plant a cover crop, probably rye and radishes?
