Subject: RE: Fire ant mounds

Jackson County, AL

Orthene in the yard, mostly bifenthrin in the field but I put Tundra and Yuma on my yard last fall and I've only had two or three in the applied area and I can say it could have been missed.  Just a 3 point sprayer with 10' boom on a compact tractor with no guidance.  Fields beside and across my house had an insecticide application (can't remember which) a few years back on wheat beans and it was a full three years before hills started appearing again.  It doesn't make sense and I can't explain it, just what happened.  Treated them in my yard since with a dozen new ones a week showing up at times during those years but none where we had those wheat beans.  Sure wish I could remember what we used, but its usually a generic product from Helena or Nutrien.
