Central Indiana | Corn is about V6 now and looks really nice. Got 110lbs AMS spread on last week and .75” rain two days ago to set it in. Observations so far:
Dekalb 111-35 planted better as far as placement and spacing
Pioneer 1136 is 1-2 leaf stages ahead of Dekalb
Dekalb 111-35 is a darker green/blue color
Pioneer 1136 is more hunter green with very reflective leaf
At this point both varieties look excellent but they have had a really good start since planting. This ground is sandier than most we have at home as it’s located in Howard County, IN. Both varieties dropped at 34,500 and received 10 gallon 10-34-0 and 28 mixed with sulfur 2X2. Conventional tillage practices. Applied 185lbs actual N via NH3 about 2 weeks ago. I’ll attach some pictures of the field. I’m standing in the middle of 12 rows of one variety and 12 rows of the other. Dekalb on left side (shorter less reflective) pioneer on the right (taller more reflective)
