Scranton | As long as you have 1/3 down at planting, in some form, I'd wait as long as you can. Best time, IMO, is shoulder high. But that isn't always conducive to one's labor and machinery. We are currently in a dryer pattern, but back in the 90's and 00's, early liquid went down the tile and river, or at the very least, below the shallow roots.
Waiting till 5-6 leaves seems like a happy medium. | |
