SW MN | I drive 70 to make it look even better.
I had my seed salesman out to look at mine. He said I have issues, but doesn't think Dekalb will do anything. He was going to make a claim.
He tried to blame it on the wet spots, but I have problems everywhere. Corn was planted 15th of May and was "up" (I use this term loosely because I have some big gaps where the corn didn't germinate or was delayed). No apparent rhyme or reason for it. Some corn leafed out underground but I can't say that I had any crusting issues, some sent down a tap root, some if still trying to germ and some is rotten and done nothing. Planter appears to have done its job, but the seed didn't.
For what we pay, I think we should expect corn planted in the middle of May not to have cold germ and vigor issues. It's had 3.7" of rain on it since planting, slightly ahead of normal. | |
