I agree it doesn't fit in all contexts. Camera guidance helps. The high residue cultivator with sharp points set to the right undercut would disturb minimal residue.

In those cases where chemistry faces resistance and cultivation is impractical, where does management shift strategy? Change rotation, aggressive herbicide frequency with multiple modes of action, flamers, lasers, cover crops, live sod between rows, hand weeders (impractical on millions of acres), or something else?
