Subject: RE: Planting into heavy wheat straw-options

West Central Indiana
If I don’t have my straw baled I may try running my Great Plains ultra-till over my wheat chaff. It won’t mix much soil with all the wheat residue but I do think it will help my kinze cut thru all the straw chaff. I usually don’t have a problem though as long as I get my depth set right and don’t start planting too early, when the chaff is damp. Combining the wheat too late in the evening has been a no/no for me too. Anyway… to try and answer your question, if you decide not to bale it. I’d definitely use the the planter option.
