SE SD | Depends. If it's wet, you'll have emergence problems and ponding water problems. If its windy or you get a pounding rain it can cause a lot of erosion. If it's dry, calm winds throughout the year, works great! It was too wet here this year to roll beans. Some fields that are rolled look tough, while fields that are not rolled look better. It really just depends on the weather and soil conditions honestly. It does make for a more efficient bean harvest, with less rock damage and dirt getting in the combine. | |
