This is why Monsanto chose to go with Dicamba. Long before the commercialization of the Dicamba and 2–4D traits, academia warned that weed resistance would develop to 2–4 D. Looks like that’s turning out to be the case. Bayer has a new herbicide molecule in the works that is not yet approved by EPA. If approved, it would be the first new molecule in decades, Bayer also has a five way and six way herbicide trait for soybeans in the works. It will be a couple years before those new traits start working their way into the marketplace.
