West Central Indiana | My dad said he first found it in the late 70's in west central Indiana with a 750 massey cutting beans. Said he will never forget plugging up the throat on that machine with bur cucumbers.
Seemed to keep it managed well until the late 90's. Started going nuts in our creek bottoms and flood ground. I raise non-gmo corn and actually used Spirit herbicide for years and have switched to Peak the last 3-4 seasons. I tend to post spray when the corn is about a 1' tall with Peak/Atrazine/Callisto. Not saying I have zero burs at harvest.....but I don't have big patches that I have to leave or shell around.
Few neighbors have been trying to spray their corn late in summer with drones but I don't know what herbicide they are running. | |
