Coup is right, the best way to manage it is to have it upright and not laying on the ground.  

Make sure you are spreading the entire width of the header.  

I'd probably use the air drill as it's a single disk right?  Just make sure you have enough pressure to cut through that stuff.  A deere can do it so i'm assuming that case will.
