You struggle with what we struggle with. It is so inviting to just put corn under the circles because we can easily double the yield with irrigation on corn. Like others have said, try really hard to not water any until you are trying to encourage blooms becoming pods.

We put up a new pivot 5 plus years ago and we had beans planted there. It had newer electonics on it and I wanted to play with it for a round to make sure we had it figured out before we desperately needed it to work. I would have been better off if I hadn't done that and it wouldn't have worked when we needed it. Lol. I think I stunted root growth and the beans kept looking drought stressed so I'd run it again. It was a viscious cycle the rest of the season. Sometimes irrigation water is different than getting a rain for some reason. Our water quality on that pivot is very good.
