North Central Illinois | I'm mostly arguing your "you can leave an open pit for a while" comment. >95% of the time I agree. When tile gets added on at the top of the system and surface intakes act like vents and don't stop until you have 5 acres deep enough to canoe on it can't be fixed by just digging up the obstruction.
Not saying I wish there wasn't any tile on the farm but properly sizing mains is important, or at least increasing size after each bowl that needs a surface intake is critical or it makes some acre better at the expense of others. | |
