I helped Syngenta do some research prior to the release of artesian corn line. Even at 3GPA irrigation we saw net dollar responses up to 38,000 pop in a 200bu environment. The 42k made more yield, but seed costs busted it. Multi year research.
The pop makes yield but it always looked burn up and like trash. Not that I would actually recommend that pop at planting though. It had lots of problems with falling down at harvest and just plain looked bad.
