I don't know the answer for beans but we used to drill sudan grass after wheat when we had dairy cows and if the soil was dry dad would hook up the roller behind the 9n and one of us kids would get the miserable job of rolling in a dust cloud. I don't remember it never coming up after we rolled so it must help.
