I have a heavy 8' Maschio tiller that is my first choice when breaking sod. Clay soil here turns to lumps and marbles quicker than you can finish a pass with a disk or other tool.
Set right, slow the rotor speed down and control the ground speed, it's not bad on soil structure.
Does anyone rototill a lot of acres?
