We pull 12 row shank type with fertilizer 6 inches deep with 300 horse.  Can not pull any deeper and see no need to.  We plant with 16 row.  We use RTK, and have rolling ground.  Have been doing it around 12 years.  Helps to have a son who knows what he is doing on setting up a field to plant the next spring.  Be committed to make it work in your mind long term before you start.  The longer you do it, the more benefit you will see.  Tile and long term strip till belong together,  at least here.  Water infiltration will get better and better the more years you do it.  Tile even the hillsides is important.  Our hillsides on a year like this really hold a lot of water, and you can really see what needs tile.  Realizing different types of the country have different soil.  So visit with someone close who does strip till successfully.
